Snow Geese

Skagit Flats area, Fir Island, Washington State. Wintering birds flushed by a distant hunters shotgun rose all in an amazing wave and flew over, with their cacophonic cries drowing out all other sounds.

I like to think of myself as a landscape photographer more than anything else, but it seems like a lot of wildlife has wandered in front of my lens lately. What I search for most is unusual light to combine with the nice locations I find myself in - so sometimes I think maybe I’m getting halfway decent at being a “light” photographer.

This reminds me of confusion. Normally you will see pictures of birds flying together but these snow geese are going in all directions. Birds and humans will flee when fear grips them.

Wonderful photo, i live just below you in Marysville, and had the fun of seeing them last year in the fields around Mt. Vernon.. The fields were white, i want to find the trumpeter swans , when and where they alight….

Freaky shot! This is a lot of birds … A lot of the geese are oof though. That’s kinda disturbing I think. Otherwise; good effort.

You Rock! I’d put in on my wall. Many nature shots look artificial, too perfect. This shot wasn’t staged it is the real deal.

50+ swans did this to me when on a footbridge. They went over, under, right beside me. Could have touched several. But the noise! Mute swans’ wings whistle loudly! How do they miss a pile up? John S.
