Hummingbird

by Lynn

This little hummingbird did not flinch when I approached it slowly. It had the most beautiful colors and was apparently quite happy to have a portrait taken!

humming birds are not usually so social. I guess this can be classified as a shot of a lifetime. Birds don’t like lenses very much.very good shot nice angle and colors are just great. I really like the unfocused background

Lucky Lynn!
I really like the diagonal orientation of the branch and the bird. The image does appear a bit blurred though the bird’s eye seems sharp.
You owe the bird a big thanks for the lovely *Portrait*. Be sure to mail her a copy :-) .
(I’ll let Pieter talk about the highlights on the leaves :-) )

I have been photographing song birds at the bird feeder lately; they seem to let me get quite close before they start getting nervous.

red, green, blue – what an amazing contrast of the color shades.

Those leaves behind the tail of the bird are oe .. ;) Seriously, I think I would have cloned them out. The pose of the bird is excellent and the colors of it’s feathers are beautiful. Very well done!

Wow. Truly magnificent. What an amazing shot. And all in a blink of an eye! The bird looks a little flustered or sleepy. Great work!

A truly beautiful photo of a beautiful subject, yes the leaves might distract a little but hey how could you not take your eyes of the bird and you have catchlight in the eyes.

High Praise to Lynne. Great work, patience, and presence, as your talents have paid off tremendously. Excellent portrayal of the rarely conceived, and rarely seen, sedate hummingbird…a rare shot, indeed!..;)

Yeah I agree with Shannon–he looks like, “ahh, another human to put up with…OK, I’ll look at the camera..”
