Clearing Storm

Taken on a multi-day backpacking trip into the John Muir Wilderness. This was early evening as a storm was clearing.

Equipment: Canon Elan 7, 17-40mm L lens, Fuji Velvia 50 film, 81B warming filter and a 2-stop hard GND filter

Very well executed, in the good old cellulose way. Though the grass is a bit underexposed. you may have also tried a 3 stop GND filter also.

All the elements of a great landscape photograph come together here for me and don`t you just love that Velvia film. Wish I had of been there.

Nice composition. Looks a little oversaturated or something in postprocessing though.

The reflections in the lake make this a very interesting photo. When you see other pictures like this they are more blue and greens. Must have been taken late evening or early morning. Shadow of small mountain on the large one. Great picture!

I love the colors, composition and the scene as a whole, but I think the picture isn’t just sharp enough (mountains in the left are soft). The lens you used should have produced a sharp enough image, so maybe you didn’t use a tripod, didn’t focus on the hfd or whatever. The scene is very nice though!
