Yes mammatus clouds do portend an impending storm, an amazing and rare phenemenon.
That small speck of cirrus within the mammatus cloud cover looks kind of odd

its a good shot and the lighting is ok, I do see some level of sharpness. However it is a balanced shot.

The sea and clouds look almost like a painting.

They didn’t have those kind of clouds when I was a boy. Very cool looking.

-Yes, the small whisp of cirrus is odd, you think it should be removed?

It was takien at Candle Lake Saskatchewan. Also, the muddy looking horizon is the result of the smoke from a forest fire that was burning to the south-west of the lake.

Beautiful shot. Strong contrast between the serene and the impending “doom”!

7th December 2007 at 7:58 am

Yes, Jamie, I do believe that speck is a distraction and if you are open to changing content in Photoshop then removing the speck of cirrus cloud would help the image

This is a wonderful sky. Love it! I would have cloned out the strange white spots in the lower middle of the sky though. Composition is great.
