Isolation

by Tad Bowman

This photograph was taken in the Indian Peaks Wilderness of Colorado. I was drawn to this parry primrose because it had rooted in the middle of the stream.
Equipment: Canon EOS 1dsMII, 24-70mm lens, tripod

Nice focus of colours! I am also amazed at the stillness of the primrose. Shot of the day indeed!

WOW! interesting contrasts make the subject really stand out,
blurred vs sharp, monochromatic vs highly saturated complimentary colors, near/far, even conceptually – living vs. nonliving, static vs. motion.

Some times an image can be technically perfect and yet lack soul. This has both. I view this as a beautiful shot. It has great clarity and shows a sensitive vision to the treasures of nature that can be often overlooked in pursuit of the iconic.

I love the look of this lonely little flower amongst all that water. The colors are superb, and the picture is grand! Thanks for sharing it! Great Work Tad…♥

I guess Tad wanted to show contrast between the rocks in the water and the isolated plant. I’d love to see the water surface to be honest, otherwise it looks like a cotton. Good shot other than that. Thanks.

Doesn’t look real.

Very good! Doesn’t even look like the plant could really be there! I am surprised it was able to grow.

Good composition, nice POV. For some reason the water looks a little noisy. Anyway, very good picture.

Nice composition and exposure, Tad. The silky water from your slow shutter speed worked well

A beautiful photograph. Well composed and great use of a slow shutter speed to blurr the water and yet at the same time keeping the plant sharp, must have beena calm day or did you use flash as well?

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I appreciate it.

Pauline, I’m not sure how this Plant survived where it was. They seem to grow very well near water at high altitude.

Terry, I was lucky to get a shot without any movement this day. The wind was blowing and I happen to catch one shot when the wind died down. No, I didn’t use a flash. If memory serves me right, I used a polarizer only on this one.

And I was drawn to your marvellous photo seeing the hurly burly of harsh nature thrown up against the delicate beautiful side…If I had taken this photo I would be so proud…
