Hard to swallow

Taken in Richmond, London, this woodpigeon tried desperately to swallow the berry. After a struggle he finally succeeded then flew off, not willing to attempt another.

The bird is nicely framed by the branches, The round body of the bird echoing the shape of the berry is a nice touch and gives an impression of gluttony. The backlight is a bit strong.
PS It never ceases to amaze me how big a morsel can go into those small beaks!!

This is one of the most interesting candid shots with good composition. A slight trimming on the top will make a better snapshot.

I like how you have framed the bird between the two branches. Would have been better if the bird had just turned its head a bit instead of having to shoot it straight on, but with this kind of situation you must grab what you can.

Very nice photo. Well framed, great depth of field, good color. Thanks for capturing the split second that most of us wouldn’t have otherwise seen.
Animals (including birds) are the funniest people.

Lovely photo, and the additional story with it increases its attractiveness. The bottom left corner is a bit distracting, but once you get past that it’s really quite beautiful.
