Mouthful

by Richard Cox

After a few attempts, I finally captured this chipmunk sitting still. He has his mouth crammed with nuts.
Equipment: Canon EOS 5D, Canon 300L IS w/Canon 1.4x TC, 1/180 sec., f/5.6, ISO 400

Shots like this don’t just happen. Thanks Richard for having the patience to produce not only a beautiful shot, but also capturing some of the essence of being a chipmunk! Have you thought about working with the background- making it a little less busy on the eyes.

Great shot!
I like the background as it is, though I might try lowering the camera angle a tad next time.
Very cute, perfect timing.

Very good shot and timing, Background bokeh is good though focus is a bit off (on the back rather than on the face) but that’s OK
Cheers

Chipmunks are the cutest, cheekiest little creatures on the planet. You have done a great job here with this one.

Wonderful shot! I love the detail of the fur contrasted against the background. This makes the chipmunk seem human.

Great moment to capture. Also you have it very nicely positioned and beautiful background blur to set off your main subject. Very nicely done!

even before I enlarged it, you had me laughing aloud. I love those little critters and remember breakfasting as a child, tucked into “my” corner of the kitchen table. The radiator boiled my legs as the cold air rolled off the windows that surrounded me. Outside, on a sloping hill within 10 feet of me chipmunks and winter birds would congregate, filling themselves to bursting, just as this little creature has. I also had a hampster that set a cheek stuffing sunflower record. All of this came barreling forth in laughter when I saw your wonderful capture. THANKS!

Didn’t his mother teach him not to stuff so much food into his mouth? Great shot and patience. These guys are so fast.
