In the Meadow

by Carsten Ranke

Just a summer impression from my country, a meadow near my house.
Equipment: 300D, 70-200/4L, tripod
Carsten Ranke
I started photography in my youth with a Kodak snapshot camera, then with an old Voigtlaender Vito B 35 mm from my father. Had a wet darkroom, shot mostly with Ilford FP4 / HP4 (Olympus 35 SP range-finder, Canon AE-1, at last Nikon FE2), and was quite happy with film. Study and job slowed my activities down, I sold my darkroom equipment. Since Nov 2000 digital imaging reactivated my interest on photography (Canon G1, 300D, now 5D)

The placement of the red flowers amongst the subdued colours of the other flowers is very striking.

How appropriate. Today here in U.K. is poppy day. It is Remembrance Sunday. We all wear a poppy and poppy wreaths are placed at cenotaphs etc. It is in remembrance of those who gave their lives in conflict. That apart/ I love this photo I adore wild flowers and creatures.Very uplifting shot.Well done and thanks for this.

Wonderful colors and patterns. So delightfully random, and at the same time beautifully perfectly.

Biologically diverse meadows are rare these days. This is a lovely picture; for me the bee makes the shot.

Carsten, meadow shots are always a wonderful mix of surprises. This would cheer anyone up in the dead of winter–a nice reminder of warmer days. (I, too, use a 5D and love it.)

The red color and its placement makes this shot special. Too many subjects makes this shot a bit busy.
