You dont have to have the snazziest gear to take great pictures!!
Vintage DSLR (by today’s standards) and manual focus and a terrific shot.
Kudos
I specially like the contrasting red of the eyes, in addition to the pose and the composition.

Finally we see a very good picture as photo of the day again. I think the overall quality of the photo of the day was declining in the past months, but this one is excellent again. Very sharp, great colors and perfect composition. I really like it! Gotta love these colorful birds.

Nice to see you back here Pieter. I agree re declining quality . Too much photoshopping/ collages etc. Some appear to be verging on to digital art rather than skillful use of a camera/lens etc.On occasions over the last few months there has been some stonking shots from real photographers and their light has been obvious.

Good quality shot really good capture..

For Pieter nice to see you back here !! :-) )

Absolutely beautiful! I love this shot! It spells out such a relationship! Trust, love, companionship… Finally a shot that captures what true photography is all about… How a shot speaks to the viewer! Well done!

really excellent shot.

Wonderful composition (and colors, and everything else as well).
Was that branch originally angled or did you tilt the camera? Either way it really adds to it.

Well done!
