Re-Cycle
by David Constable
I wanted to capture the impact of man on the environment, demonstrating ingenuity and abandonment.
Equipment: Canon 400D & Sigma 10-20mm
David Constable
39 going on 70 with 2 young children. Grey hair, creaking bones and not enough sleep.

It’s like the Earth is trying to claim that bike. Great contrast.

Neat image and a great concept you put together!

The dark cloud looms above the dessicrated area Yet infinity continues. Leading to who knows where or when

Absolutely fantastic, David. Glad to see you entered a piccie too. I love this shot as you know. Well done.

It gets the message over, well done.

Superb ! Dramatic sky, brown earth, ruined bike, the line of the bridge…I love all of this ! Very good, great impact.

As the bike deteriorates, you have also captured how the earth absorbs and reclaims everything.
Anna Ridley
Congratulations Dave! Superb image – you know how much I love this shot.

Fantastic shot David. Would like to know where this great bridge is though. It does make one realize just what an impact MAN has on this beautiful Earth. We are slowly destroying it, and if it doesn’t stop soon, there will be nowhere for man to live.
Great photo!!
39 going on 64, creaking bones and never enough sleep.

Many thanks everyone for your comments and feedback. The shot is of the bridge over the River Medway near Strood in Kent, the bridge is actually the M2 motorway and the highspeed rail link

Everyone has said a lot about the image and there is nothing more to say. I particularly like the side by side existence of brown parched barren land with the delapidated bicycle signifying death surrounded by the green streach full of life. It clearly suggests that Precence of human activity as (personified by the bike)is detrimental to the environment.
On a technical standpoint, The wide angle lense and the placement of the bile on the third is really helping the image. You have gone overboard in saturating the colors, though that is just MY opinion. BTW did you combine two exposures to get the sky Right?

Very nice David, is this HDR?
Renee

Frankly, the photo seems too enhanced to be real. Nice composition, but I rather see real colors.
Gloria Talbert
WOW !!! !
andrew
wow, this is just beautiful, David. I love the color contrast.
David Constable
Stoneserenity so sorry to disappoint you, quite how the photo is “enhanced” other than to combine to exposures for the foreground and the sky i don’t know, the scene is fairly representative of what the shot was like due to the midday sun.
Post processing was just to combine both shots and sharpen .. if you want to see real colours either look at the shot or re-calibrate your monitor
Kate
I love this sort of contrast. Even though the bike is decaying and the motorway is speeding on, you can see nature all around still. The colours are just spectacular.
Dennis
Man and nature. New and decaying. Great concept photo!
mike
Great idea.
Renee
very creative shot!

Think there is a lot of artist value in this shot.

Beautiful! Love the “recycle” concept! The process is right on!
What a lot of people don’t understand about digital imagery, leads them toward outward groaning.
This is a fabulous work!
