Dancing Stones

by Pedro Bento

This is a photo I've been working on for a while. Most part of the year the ground of this beach is covered by stones, giving a confused foreground to the scene I want to shoot. So the possibilities of getting this shot without stones in the foreground, low tide, at sunset, nice sky and without footprints are pretty difficult...

A truly beautiful shot lovely foreground tonings and the windswept sky lends itself to great toning colours.

Your persistence has paid handsome dividends. Excellent shot!!
Perfect silky smooth sand, very dynamic diagonal of the shore where water meets the sand, The center stone with all the lines of the clouds and the implied lines of the spikes of the rock converging towards it and the setting sun behind – is fantastic. The shape of the clouds plays of splendidly with the shape of the rocks.

OPUS MAGNUM !!!

So how did the sand get there?

Strong waves, especially in the winter, bring tons of sand to the shore.

where is this place that makes one gasp thanks in part to your gift? Your piece makes even this clicking of my keyboard seem intrusive… excellent work.

Pedro, your wait was well worth it. The contrasts of the jagged edge of the stones with the easy curve of the sand with the linear sky detail..wow. beautiful. thank you for this. Namaste.

An amazing shot. The way the sky is reaching at the rocks and the way the rocks are reaching at you, looks beautiful, adventurous. The perfect use of shutter speed and exposure setting made this photo a perfect piece of work. Excellent.

Totally unreal sky. I think its a luck to catch the sky look so geometrically proportional to the place you are standing at.

A wonderful shot taken with all the skill of my favourite coastal photographer, Mike Bonsall, who hails from Guernsey.

Exquisite image! The sand is definitely smooth, and the sky is amazing! I really like the low perspective.
