Snake Eyes
by Howe Sim
The green tree python is native to New Guinea, Indonesia and certain parts of Australia. It consumes small rodents and birds, foraging for food at night and sleeping during the daytime. Adults can grow to lengths of up to 2 metres. It is an endangered species because of the skin trade and habitat destruction.

    wow! wow! wow!
A terrific pose and perfect lighting. Tell me its not a studio shot!! and the wide aperture gives a gerat sense of depth and dimension. Howe gie us the backstory on this shot, like where was it shot etc. I would also like to know the lense that you were using.

I like the shallow DOF and the focus on the eyes is perfect. I think I would have off-centered the head of the snake a little more. I also think the large shady part in the bottom is a little bit distracting, but I guess there was little you could do about it (perhaps a fill-flash?)? Other than that: excellent work!

I love pics like these…which shows the beautiful patterns in nature which we don’t get to see anymore in the cities..

Wow! I have a major phobia of snakes but this image is just stunning. Seeing this picture makes it hard to categorize it into the slimey, evil creatures I can’t stand! Awesome pic!

This photo scared the shit out of me. What are those big slits in the front of its face? It’s not a big step from this thing to the basilisk. The eyes are mesmerizing. It really–wow. I wouldn’t have know, but I really feel the parts of my brain that have been there since we evolved from goodness-knows-what saying DANGER!!!!

    Great shot!
