Marine Iguanas
by Will Burrard-Lucas
The Marine Iguana (Amblyrhynchus cristatus) is an iguana that has the unique ability among modern lizards to live and forage in the sea. It is found only on the Galapagos Islands, but has spread to all the islands in the archipelago. The colour of the iguanas varies from island to island according to the type of algae they feed on. These iguanas were found on Espanola Island.

Love the expression on the face of the lizard behind the main one. They are really not a very attractive species – but that expression is endearing. Excellent image!

Wow, what an amazing creature. Wonderful shot, I love the way the textures of the animal and its environment blend so subtly.

Amazing creatures; I would love to see them in the flesh.

Great POV & DOF. I think the iguana behind the main subject is rather distracting, albeit a very funny distraction. The photo seems to be a little bit dull, probably due to the lack of colors in the scene, but maybe due to an overcast day. Anyway, nice & sharp shot.

great shot. I agree though that It is only the expression which is causing intrest otherwise the lizard itself is, if I may say, not exactly attractive.

Lovely creatures, in their own way.
