Summer Beach in Waiting

by Bill Pevlor

This is a view of Lake Michigan at Crescent Beach in Algoma, WI beach in the dead of winter. This is a favorite spot for people in the Green Bay area to cool off from the summer heat. The water is always cool, but the air temperatures can be 10 to 15 degrees cooler in Algoma than just a few miles inland. The beach has a nice boardwalk that runs the length of the beach - covered by snow in this photo.
Equipment: Kodak DX7590

I've become a digital photography enthusiast in the last few years. It started when I purchased a decent digital camera to chronicle a missions trip in 2005. Now, pursuing and capturing the beauty and wonder of God's creation is one way I fill up the few "leisure" moments I'm able to squeeze out of my life as the pastor of a small but vigorous church in northeast Wisconsin. I'm hoping to upgrade to a digital SLR, but that's not going to fit into my budget for awhile. (Any donations would be joyfully accepted. :) )

I remember a couple of other photos you have posted. They have all been special, but this one is off the scale. Wow!

So beautiful! Love the pastel colors in the sky against the white snow.

great lines, the fence is a really nice touch, seen a lot of such shots with only white of the snow, the orange sky is a nice variation, but don’t like the distracting mounds in the lower left corner

A lovely photo, but the snow is a bit too grey for me in this picture, while it should be pure white of course. You should have overexposed the scene a little to get things right. The sky is great though.

I am going to attempt this scene as a watercolour, I could look at this image for ever and not get tired of it.
