Fire & Ice Sunrise

The sun is getting ready to rise over Lake Michigan on this cold December morning, 2006. You’re looking at the Algoma, WI pier light with the cracked ice of the harbor in the foreground. I had to scramble down an embankment of slick, frost-covered rocks to get closer to the surface of the water/ice for this shot.

I’ve become a digital photography enthusiast in the last few years. It started when I purchased a decent digital camera to chronicle a missions trip in 2005. Now, pursuing and capturing the beauty and wonder of God’s creation is one way I fill up the few leisure moments I’m able to squeeze out of my life as the pastor of a small but vigorous church in northeast Wisconsin.

This shot is fantastic! I love it! It really shows the contrasts of the ice and the firey sunrise. The wonders of God’s beauty are fantastic indeed and being able to ‘capture’ it for keeps is wonderful.

Jim, I can appreciate your love for God’s creation. It’s what compelled me to leap into nature photography, also. This photo is a beautiful showcase. (Sure glad you didn’t take a tumble on those icy rocks!) Nice work!
