Baby Orangutan
by Kathleen Brown
This baby is about one and one half years old and stands about 24 inches, still very tiny. Mom usually has her tucked away making it very difficult to photograph her. I got lucky on this and got a couple of good shots of her, I think she is just beautiful with those eyes and her tuffs of hair sticking up like this.
I had to set the aperture wide open to get enough light on her and set the shutter speed as fast as I could to get her in good focus as she was in constant motion.
Taken with a Nikon D-200 camera with a Nikon 80-400 mm lens at a focal length of 400mm, shutter speed of 1/60, aperture of F/5.6, with a tripod.
