Tule Elk, Point Reyes Sunset

This was shot at the Tomales Point Elk Reserve at Point Reyes National Seashore, just north of the Bay Area, in California. It’d been one heck of a foggy day, all dreary, dripping day long. Right at sunset the sun peaked in below the fog bank for about two minutes before it slipped below the horizon. I got about five photos–and this is the only one that turned out well.

First thing I thought was “This is point reyes.” I’ve seen these Elk on a kayaking trip. Love the picture. Looks like California gold even though it is almost always brisk and foggy out there!
