Robben Dawn

by Paul Watson

Dawn on Robben Island looking towards Cape Town. This is the same island that Nelson Mandela spent many years in jail on. It is a national preserve and yet still holds a working population, many ex-prisoners of Robben Island.
Equipment: tripod, Canon EOS 10D, Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8L

Wow! This is a part of the world I’ll probably never travel to and greatly appreciate the opportunity to see such a historic and beautiful view of it. Thank you.

I just simply love this photo with all its striking colors. I will try and paint it.

This is where Nelson Mandela was held for most of his imprisonment. All that was visible from his tiny cell window was a courtyard wall. My hero.

What splendid nature! This is so beautiful it makes me want to brave the “at times” harsh social climate of SA cities just to see and feel this beauty and climate!

A very good scene, I feel using a polariser would have helped you to cut the background haze. Just my 2 cents.

Very nice. I like the composition and the sharpness. I think it’s a pity the sun is coming up in the right because it gives your sky a strange mix of whites, blues and every color in between. I would rather have seen it different. Still a good picture though.
