Ash Eruption of Mt. Etna

by Thomas Reichart

Mt Etna, one of the most active volcanoes in the world is in action again. "Mongibello" the mountain of the mountains as it is called in Italian is situated on the east coast of Sicily, close to Catania. It is the largest active volcano in Europe, currently standing about 3,350 m (10,991 ft). From the South East Crater ash is emitted several hundered meters in the sky. The picture was taken on the 3rd of december 2006 during a hike to the summit in approximately 3000m above sea level.
Equipment: Canon G3

Hello Thomas:
I have been to Stuttgart many times in 1956-1957 as I was sattioned in Munich with the 11th Airborn Division of the US Army. I loved Germany and did not desire to come home as I was only 20 yeats of age than. Today, I am 71 and will be 72 on 27th of this month. One Beautiful Country with wonderful people and I fell in love with your food, the beautiful gardens! I just wish I could afford to come back over for a month. But I cannot afford it now being Retired on a fixed income. However, I wish to wish you all the best in your PHD; as I know well you will someday be very famous. Also I would also liked tto wish your family the very best from I here in the USA. Take care of yoruself and God Bless you and your wonderful family as they should be very proud of you as I am! 73, Ralph / W2NV
PS: Yes, I am a Ham Radio Operator of many years!
