Eagle Snatch

This was the second time Mart had visited Lauvsnes, a village halfway up the coast of Norway. He went there to try and photograph white-tailed eagles. “I adore these magnificent birds,” he says, “and was determined to get a decent picture”. Taking pictures from a boat in strong wind, rain and high waves without a tripod “made things particularly tricky”. But then his luck changed. “A calm sea, pleasant weather and, most importantly, a co-operative eagle”, which plucked a fish from the sea in just the right spot, gave him the shot he wanted.

Spectacular shot Mart!
I used to have some great bird photographer friends when I lived in Norway, they too were youngsters like yourself, who could spend weeks tracking these magnificent birds and preparing strategies for capturing such shots. Their patience always paid off and today they are highly-prized nature photographers. Some of their most spectacular shots are of these birds.
Keep up the great work, your future is guaranteed.

The long feathers make the shot. The way they’re twisting and distorted is absolutely beautiful. These birds are gorgeous and you presented them perfectly.

Great shot. Possibly a little oversharpened, but perfectly captured high-speed action. It’s amazing that you’re able to shoot such difficult shots at the age of 15! Well done!
