Zanskar
by Dariusz Klemens
Ladakh means "land of the high passes". It is located to the north of the mighty Himalayas which completely shield it from the cloud bearing monsoon winds that bring rain to the rest of the subcontinent. This makes it a high altitude desert with a veritable lunar landscape. Glacial melts irrigate precious crops during the short summer. Villagers make their way through glacial scree towards the town of Padum which is the road-head in the remote Zanskar valley.

As a person who loves images, I just love this shot. The background rocks are very impressive. However, the image not only shows the beauty of nature but includes human life; the small group of villagers tightly gathered together is a lovely inclusion. The light in the picture also is beautiful.

Hi…
Your photo is superb. It doen’t matter where a man is reached now… We all are still small in front of our Mother Nature…
The massive rocks in backgorund makes you realize you are so tiny…
