A Potter Wasp
by Poras Chaudhary
Its a Yellow Potter Wasp…
I think I am damn lucky to have grabbed this one as it used to visit this pot only once a day… I had to sit and wait for it come for quite a long time…
I had to underexpose the picture while keeping the shutter speed fast enough in order to freeze the action…
The shot came out more beautiful then I ever thought it would…
Equipment: Canon 350D with Canon 100mm 2.8 Macro Lens
Poras Chaudhary
I’ve always been someone who got attracted towards nature’s beauty…
and ever since imaging got digital I wanted to get a digital camera…
But for some reason or the other I couldn’t get one untill May last year (2005),
when I got my first Camera 350D…
Before that I didn’t even know about “Aperture” though I knew that there is something
called “Shutter Speed”…
Recently I won Digital Camera Magazine’s “Photographer of the Year” Competition…
Now, Me and My Camera are inseparable and with each passing day world is getting more Beautiful…

Poras, this is an incredible shot. I’ve never been this close to a paper wasp (and hope not to!), but what a treat to see all those colorful details. And look at his wings–you’ve frozen this moment in time. Thank you for sharing it!

found single mud nest about the size of a small thimble, I think with a singe occupant. Your picture reminds me of a somewhat larger articulated wasp seen elsewhere in France.

Hello! This is a fantastic photograph! I am a zoology student at the University of Dundee in Scotland and I was wondering if I could use this image to illustrate my report on hymenoptera? Obviously I will credit it to you and it is just an internal report that will be printed once so my lecturer can mark it. Can I have your permission please? Thank you, Tamara McNicol
