Remembrance Day
To Earth Thou Shalt Return
by Johnah C. Galicia
Here lies the remains of soldiers who valiantly fought for their own countries during the Second World War in the Pacific region. This cemetery is in Manila. As I walked around and read each epitaph, I realized how much these soldiers have also suffered in the name of war. Some died at the age of 18 and came from various places like Vermont, USA. Some were just part of the mess staff or the medical staff.
Manila was second to Warsaw, Poland as the most devastated city in the world after WW2.
