To me, the dancing brilliance of the northern lights truly highlights the beauty of this lone white pine.

Chris Perry was born, raised and continues to reside in Chisholm, Minnesota which is located right in the heart of the Iron Range. This impelled his love affair with nature and also sparked his deep desire to help others see the importance of protecting our delicate environment. Chris’ enthusiasm for photography shines through in each of his photographs, as does his love of our home, the north woods of Minnesota. The colors captured here are truly beautiful. Having observed the aurora in the southern hemisphere in Australia’s state of Tasmania, I thought that was an awe inspiring experience. At that distance from the polar region, its light was simply white but it was wonderful to see the changing forms created by it as I watched. This shot is very nicely executed with the pine silhouetted against this glorious phenomenon.

I’d love to have the opportunity just to see the aurora let alone photograph it. Shots like this inspire me to keep travelling just to see such wonders. Thanks for keeping me on track!

I am interested in natural phenomena and beauty so this is one of them. The aurora borealis. It is incredible what the sun’s activity can do and this is what it does. I am always inspired by the aurora even though I haven’t seen one officially. An incredible photo with the stars and the white pine. I always appreciate God’s creation and wonders. Great photo. Well done!
